These hats are often cherished companions for years including for the beach and traveling but they must be treated properly. Look after your Panama hat and you will enjoy it for many years.
As a reminder, these hats are handmade of natural fibers so there are limits to the wear and tear they can take during usage and storage (they need to be stored in their natural form). They are like any other fine clothing accessory which wear with time and use and can incur damage like tears, holes, and stains. Additionally, slight differences in the shape, color and weave will exist. These are not defects, but underline the originality of the hats.
They should not be submerged in water nor subjected to heavy rain as it may lose its shape. They should also not be left in bright sunlight or very dry locations. If they become dry and brittle, you can finely spray them with clean water to moisturize it and return it to its original flexibility.
Crochet and some standard classic hats can be rolled if done properly for short periods of time but we do not recommend doing this as many people end up damaging their hats. Finer woven hats should never be rolled. We cannot be responsible for any damage due to rolling and/or improper storage of your hats.
Your hat can often be returned to its original shape by forming it with your hands or by using a warm iron with a moist cloth. Hats can be cleaned by gently wiping it with a white cloth and light soapy water, then wipe dry with a white towel.
